Kiersten R. Snyder, MD is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, specializing in glaucoma, cataracts, and complex anterior segment surgeries. Dr. Snyder received her master’s in biomedical imaging from UC San Francisco prior to receiving her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine Preliminary Internship at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA and ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College. She completed fellowship training in glaucoma with esteemed leaders in the field at Minnesota Eye Consultants, where she studied under world-renowned glaucoma surgeon, Dr. Tom Samuelson.
Dr. Snyder is well-versed in the array of glaucoma treatments, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), tube shunts, and trabeculectomies. Dr. Snyder has been actively involved in research, including clinical trials and advanced ophthalmic imaging with publications in notable journals like Ophthalmology Retina and JAMA Ophthalmology, and presentations at prestigious conferences including ARVO, AAO, and ASCRS. Dr. Snyder has been honored with numerous awards, including the Thaddeus Wandel Research Award and being a finalist for the ARVO Members in Training Outstanding Poster Award. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Snyder is thrilled to be joining Sacramento Eye Consultants, having grown up in Sacramento. Outside of ophthalmology, she enjoys spending time with her family and dog, traveling, and being active outside.
