Intraocular Lenses (IOLs)

Cataract surgery in the Greater Sacramento, Folsom and Lincoln Areas

Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are artificial lenses that are implanted in the eye to improve vision for patients at the time of cataract surgery. Our surgeons are well-versed in all the latest premium lens implant options, including the PanOptix Trifocal lens, the Tecnis Symfony lens, the Vivity lens, Light Adjustable Lens, and Toric lens options for astigmatism.

At Sacramento Eye Consultants, your eyes will be measured with the latest technology, and your surgeon will perform a thorough examination and then will discuss your hobbies and interests to help determine which lens implant is best suited for you.

Different Types of Intraocular Lens Implants (IOLs)

Monofocal- Corrects vision at one focal point (distance or near). Glasses are usually needed for the best quality of vision.
Toric- Corrects mild to moderate astigmatism to improve the sharpness of distance vision, decreasing dependence on glasses. Glasses are usually needed for near and intermediate vision.
Multifocal- These IOLs contain multiple optical zones that focus light at various distances, providing good vision at near, intermediate, and distance, and decreasing the need for glasses.
Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)- Advanced, cutting-edge technology lens that allows for customization of vision after surgery using UV light treatments to optimize visual outcomes. Reduces the need for glasses with precise, tailored blended vision.
